Salerno-Paestum |
|
Salerno is about one hour drive south of Naples. During the Medieval it was the world capital of medicines. One of the most famous texts of medicine was the “Regimen Sanistas Salerni”, written in Latin and translated in almost all European languages. At the East of Salerno and after Pontecagnano, battipaglia and Eboli we find Paestum with its four temples and its walls very well kept, the temple of Poseidon (Neptun) and the Basil of the 6th century, which was actually dedicated to Hera (the most important divinity of Peastum ). Free time for lunch before the visit. Return to Sorrento.
