POSITANO
: it is characterized by its bright
colours, realized by craftsmen. You will admire
many dress and sandal shops along via dei
Mulini. According to the legend, the green
villa, on the Big Shore, was the mill where the
slaves ex-criminals or ex-lovers ground the
flour and pasted the bread that was brought
every day to Capri for the cafeteria of Toberio.
LI GALLI: the three islands-rocks, near Postano,
were described by Omero as the places where the
mermaids that seduced Ulisse lived.
RAVELLO : we
remember you that during the summer in Villa
Rufolo we remember you that during the summer in
Villa Rufolo concerts of classical musical are
given, above all music by wagner.
PAESTUM
:
The ancient Poseidonia, founded by greek
colonies of Sibari around 600 BC on the rives of
Sele, became a Roman colony with the name of
Paestum in 273 BC. The decline started in the
1st century BC because of malaria, that kept on
spreading with the marsh in the zone caused by
bradyseism and by the intense deforestation: the
pines of Lucania revealed themselves optimum
materials for roman’s ships. The citizen tried
to resist the waters: they lift up the streets
and the house doorways, and moved to the highest
place of the city, in the holly area, turning
the Temple of Hera into a temple; finally they
left the zone moving to Carpaccio.
CERTOSA
DI PADULA :
Padula was divided in two sections: the one for
the lay brothers, in charge of the commissions
of everyday life, and the one for the hermitage,
from which the 24 Chartusians went out only to
go to the Church and for lunch in Sundays. Each
monk, in his hermitage, had his own cell and a
orchard, needed to produce his food. Even not
being vegetarians, the monks followed a diet
that allowed the eating of eggs and fish, but
not meat. Every week they were allowed to take a
walk outside, in the green space called “desert”.
